Privacy Policy
Last updated October 9, 2026
This policy explains what [Company legal name] ("Kindled", "we") collects, why, and who sees it. We keep it short on purpose.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and password (stored securely by our login provider).
- Organization profile: name, mission, focus areas, location, budget range, funding preferences, EIN, contact name and phone, and the information you enter in your profile.
- Documents you upload to your library, and updates you post.
- Activity inside matches: messages, next steps, bookings and notes you share with the other side.
- Private notes you write for your own team. The other side never sees them.
- Calendar availability, if you connect a calendar. We read only whether you are free or busy. We do not read event titles, attendees or descriptions.
- Basic technical data such as device and browser type, used to keep the service secure and working.
How your interest and information are shared
Your expression of interest is private. It is shown to no one unless the other side independently expresses interest in you. Once a match is open, the other side can see your organization profile, your contact details, anything you share into the match, and the activity in that match. Funders who choose to keep their name private are shown as a private donor, foundation or corporate funder, even after a match opens, until they choose to share their name with that organization. Choosing privacy applies to new matches; organizations you've already matched with can still see your name. Teammates in your organization can see everything your organization can.
How we use information
To run Kindled: show you aligned organizations, open matches, send notifications and emails, schedule calls, verify nonprofits, review funder accounts, keep the service safe, and improve it. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who else handles it
We use service providers to run Kindled, including our database and hosting provider, an email delivery provider, and, if you connect one, Google or Microsoft for calendar availability. For verification we look up public records and ratings from sources such as ProPublica, Candid and Charity Navigator using your organization's EIN. These providers act on our behalf and are bound to protect your information. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account we will delete it within 30 days, except what we must keep by law or for security. Matches you shared with other organizations may remain visible to them in their own records.
Your choices
From Settings you can update your profile, choose which emails you receive, download a copy of your data, and ask us to delete your account. You can disconnect a calendar at any time.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to other organizations' information is restricted by the database itself. Calendar connection tokens are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Cookies
We use only the small amount of storage needed to keep you signed in and remember simple preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Kindled is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes and contact
If we make a meaningful change we will tell you and may ask you to accept it again. Questions or requests: [contact email]. [Company legal name], [mailing address].
